Bercy - Gare de Lyon Guide

The French capital of Paris is so exquisite that it is oftentimes considered to be the cultural capital of the entire world. Within the south east of this world-class city are the Bercy and Gare de Lyon districts, set within the 12th arrondissement, close to Bastille and other famous landmarks, but with their own distinct character. Hotels in the Bercy Gare de Lyon region of Paris tend to be cheaper than their more central counterparts, so it is possible to stay in this beautiful Parisian area of wide boulevards and charming brasseries in style and comfort at affordable prices.

Top Bercy Gare de Lyon Attractions

This tranquil Rive Droite district of Paris has several well-known landmarks and sights amongst its pretty residential streets and squares. Parc de Bercy is a large landscaped public park featuring an exhibition centre and the Maison du Jardinage museum.

Nearby is the fabulous Frank Gehry-designed Cinémathèque Française, a stylish 1930’s building housing some of the worlds most important film archives and artefacts.

Bercy Village is a fabulous urban renewal project where you can happily wile away a day at the shops and wine bars of these redeveloped wine warehouses in the heart of the 12th arrondissement.

Bercy Gare de Lyon Hotels

Well served with a range of hotels, from stylish business and four-star hotels to two- and three-star budget options, Bercy Gare de Lyon accommodation is generally affordable and comfortable. A variety of cheap hotels in Bercy Gare de Lyon is well located for public transport and local attractions such as the quirky Musée des Arts Forains (fairground art museum).

Kids and Families

Perhaps the most popular family destination in Paris is the Disneyland Resort. Take a break from historic sightseeing and cultural pursuits to spend a day with Mickey Mouse and friends. The rides, shows, performances and special events will keep kids of all ages happy and fully entertained all day. Included in the price of admission is unlimited access to all the rides and attractions in the park; multi-day passes are also available. Some live shows and special events - like having breakfast with the characters or catching a dinner show - do cost extra, so it is best to plan your visit in advance to ensure that you are not surprised by unexpected charges. Closer to Bercy is the wonderful Bois de Vincennes, an English style park and woods known as the ‘lungs of Paris’, housing Paris’ Zoo (closed until 2014), four lakes and the splendid Château de Vincennes. Children will love boating on the lakes. The park is also served by nearby cafes and a restaurant, such as The Chalet du Lac Saint-Mande. Sports, such as tennis, can also be played in the park.
