Galleria Vittorio emanuele II

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, 20121 Milan, Italy

Galleria Vittorio emanuele II is located in Milan, Italy and is considered amongst the city’s main museum , with visitors from all over Italy and other countries.

Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II is a magnificent steel and glass covered shopping arcade in downtown Milan connecting two of the city's premier landmarks, the Duomo and La Scala. This unique vantage point has given the Galleria the nickname 'Il Salotto di Milano' (the drawing room of Milan).

The four floors of the Galleria contain elegant shops a range of goods from haute couture to books. Most of the luxury brands such as Gucci, Prada, Louis Vuitton have outlets here. There are also restaurants, cafés and bars.

The cross-shaped Galleria was designed with characteristic Milanese flair by Giuseppe Mengon. Unfortunately, he plunged to his death from a girder a few days before the opening of the Galleria in 1878. The structure was named after the first king of unified Italy.
