Barcelona – Ramblas Area in Review
The Ramblas, Spain’s most famous and lively boulevard, cuts right through the heart of Barcelona’s city centre. Strolling along the 1.2 km long promenade, the most interesting places to visit are the Wax Museum, the Erotica Museum and the Christopher Colombus Monument at Port Vell. The centre of the Ramblas is decorated with a lovely tile mosaic by the famous painter Joan Miro. Thousands of visitors walk over an original Miro every day without even knowing it.
The museums are well worth visiting and you can admire wonderful medieval architecture walking up and down the promenade, but the Ramblas is particularly famous for its great variety in street performance and most people come here for eating, drinking, shopping and socializing.
Visiting Barcelona, the Ramblas is often the first stop. Cafes, market stalls, street performers, shops, tapas bars, living statues, fortune tellers, nightclubs, restaurants, galleries, dozens of tourists and more shops and entertainment make this the most cosmopolitan street, regularly and rightfully referred to as the soul of Barcelona.
