Ibiza Island Guide

Ibiza Island, also known as Eivissa, is a favourite holiday location in Spain where the world's most ardent pleasure-seekers gather to flat-out party. Here you'll dance the night away with the rich, famous and tragically trendy in state-of-the-art nightclubs such as Pacha, Space, El Divino or the aptly named Amnesia. However, Ibiza is also a popular destination for those who love the beach and diving. There are several nightclubs that attract the younger travellers and fine dining establishments provide entertainment for older travellers.

An advantage of Ibiza accommodation is that several of the hotels are located on or near the island's beaches. Those that are located inside the local towns are within easy walking distance of local clubs and restaurants. Guests don't have to travel too far to have easy access to the island's attractions.

Top Places to visit on Ibiza

Should the partying take its toll, there are plenty of more sedate ways to enjoy the island. Bask in a beautiful sunset to the soundtrack of chilled electronica at the Cafe del Mar or wander among the wildflowers in the gorgeous countryside. Marvel at the medieval architecture of Ibiza Town - much of the island, including this town, has UNESCO World Heritage Site status. After your stroll, take a boat ride to the tranquil beaches of the neighbouring isle of Formentera.

See the collection of caves at Cova de San Marca, which are biggest natural caves in the area. This makes them a vacation hot spot.

Be sure to see Es Vedra during a trip to this island. This is a rocky island that has a bit of local mystery attached to it.

Eating

Popular food items on Ibiza include sweet pastries, meaty sandwiches, and flan made with cheese and mint. In Ibiza Town, travellers may enjoy grilled meat and seafood at La Brasa or pizza at La Pirata. San Antonio has several Asian restaurants on or near the sunset strip, with the Curry Club being popular. There are relatively few restaurants in San Antonio that specialise in local food.

Ibiza Island Hotels

One of the best things about staying on Ibiza Island is the range of hotels that are available. Ibiza Island accommodation ranges from very simple youth hostels to posh five-star hotels. Guests can easily find a hotel that suits the type of holiday accommodation that they need. Several hotels are conveniently located on the beaches. Cheap hotels in Ibiza Island can easily be found in the town of San Antonio. These are close to several of the popular bars and nightclubs.
