The Balearic Islands

Balearic Islands, Spain

The Balearic Islands is located in Mallorca Island, Spain and is considered amongst the city’s main attraction , with visitors from all over Spain and other countries.

To immerse yourself in the Mediterranean party spirit, head for the Balearic Islands (Los Baleares). This delightful archipelago comprises the famed islands of Majorca, Minorca, and Ibiza, together with the smaller Formentera, Cabrera, and uninhabited Dragonera.

These islands were conquered by a succession of invaders ending with the Moors. After these were driven off in the 13th century, they became known as the kingdom of Majorca. The early 19th century saw an influx of artists such as Chopin and George Sand and the islands later became a haven for the artistic set. Majorca is both the largest island and the most developed for tourists with strips of hotels, bars and fast-food joints. Ibiza, with its azure sands and white-sandy beaches pulls the international party set. Minorca, the smallest of the islands is the most laid back and least touristy.
