Basel is famous for its beautiful historical buildings that date back to medieval times. The Munster, or cathedral, is one of the city's focal points and also features its own square. Another interesting church to see is the Elisabethen, the 19th century Protestant church that was the first to be constructed after the Reformation. The Rathaus, or Town Hall, features beautiful Renaissance architecture, and the 14th century city gates still stand.
