Blackpool Guide

Located in the county of Lancashire on England's northwest coast by the Irish Sea, Blackpool has been the UK's leisure capital since the mid-19th century. Back then the Lancashire mill owners would shut up shop for a week of repairs every summer and the workers inevitably trickled down to Blackpool to soak their weary bodies in the Irish Sea. The town's holiday glow grew all the brighter when, in 1879, it became the first municipality in the world to install electric street lighting.

As Blackpool continues to rise as a major tourism centre of England, the city has a very large variety of accommodation available. Book your dream accommodation in Blackpool to enjoy this vibrant and exciting seaside town.

Top Locations in Blackpool

Located mere minutes from Blackpool centre, the Grand Theatre was designed in 1894 and is now considered to be Lancashire's preferred Opera House as well as Britain's National Theatre of Variety.

Enjoy dancing in a great atmosphere as you visit this glorious landmark of Tower Ballroom.

Madame Tussauds, the tourist attraction for celebrity wax figures, is located only 1.7 miles from the city centre. Enjoy a great afternoon filled with fun as you get to meet your favourite UK celebrities!

Kids and Families

Enjoy a delightful day out visiting the Blackpool Zoo or one of the city's many amusement parks - including the Sandcastle Waterpark and Blackpool Tower and Circus, located less than 200 metres from the city centre. This park includes exciting dungeons, a 4-D cinema, brand new Tower Eye and what is considered Britain's best circus. Only 1.7 miles from the city centre, the fun continues at the Pleasure Beach theme park, where you can scare yourself silly on Europe's tallest and fastest roller-coaster.

Blackpool Hotels

As you'd expect of a seaside resort, accommodation is plentiful, and varies from cosy little B&Bs to romantic hotels, luxury suites and trendy apartments. The town's official website claims Blackpool has more hotels, hostels and B&B beds than the whole of Portugal. With an excessively large array of family-friendly accommodation, executive-style hotels rooms, youth hostels, romantic getaways and cheap hotels in Blackpool, it could not be easier to find a hotel here to suit both your needs and your budget.
