City: Leith Guide

Leith is a bustling cultural district located on the shore of the Firth of Forth in North Edinburgh. It boasts world renowned restaurants and cultural attractions such as The Royal Yacht Britannia and the Water of Leith Walkway. There are a wide range of cheap hotels in Leith. Cheap and cheerful bed and breakfasts can be found alongside four star establishments offering a tranquil ambience and modern amenities. Leith accommodation is largely centred around the Newhaven area.

Top Leith Attractions

Leith leads the way in fine dining and food experiences in Edinburgh with an array of celebrated eateries.

Leith is also home to Edinburgh's largest shopping centre. The Ocean Terminal is a huge undercover complex featuring a selection of High Street chain shops and independent retailers alongside bars, restaurants and a cinema.

Those aiming to indulge in the arts should take a look at '6 Times', a multi-part work by the renowned Antony Gormley which is set along the Water of Leith.

Leith Hotels

Newhaven Road and Pilrig Street provide a prime location for bed and breakfasts and cheap hotels in Leith as only a short walk is needed to reach the district and capital centre. Accommodation in Leith is largely family run with en suite and modern conveniences such as Wi-Fi included. There are also a number of modern Leith hotels and apartments which have been recently renovated along the waterfront close to the Ocean Terminal Shopping Centre.

Eating

Leith is renowned for being one of the top food destinations in the United Kingdom. The Shore was recognised by the Google Street View Awards in 2010 where it was named 'Best Foodie Street.' The adjacent Commercial Street, Henderson Street and Bernard Street complete a cultural strip of restaurants offering the best in international (Italian, Thai, Chinese and Indian) and local food. The Restaurant Martin Wishart on The Shore has featured in the Michelin Guide and Good Food Guide.
