Victoria is a part of London located entirely within the City of Westminster. It gets its name from the 19th century monarch, Queen Victoria. Being located within the City of Westminster means that Victoria is a very central location in London, and therefore you might expect accommodation to be quite expensive. Fortunately though, Victoria is one of the most affordable parts of central London and, if you book ahead, finding good value accommodation is easy.
Top Victoria Attractions
One of the greatest attractions near Victoria must be Buckingham Palace, which is located north of the main station in Victoria. For those staying in this part of London, Buckingham Palace is going to be within easy reach, but it only opens in August and September when the Queen is in Scotland. The number of tickets sold for trips to the palace each year is limited so make sure you book as far ahead as possible. If visitors do not manage to secure tickets to the Palace, they can watch the Changing of the Guard at no charge throughout the year.
The Tate Britain is to the south of Victoria on the banks of the River Thames and is one of the best art galleries in London.
The nearby Apollo Victoria is an excellent off-West End theatre.
Victoria Hotels
Victoria accommodation is very good value for somewhere in the centre of London, and it is a popular location for people who are on a budget. Hotel rooms start at great rates but these rooms will fill up fast, especially in the peak season. Cheap hotels in Victoria will become harder to find the later you book, and you will end up paying much more than you might if you had booked ahead.
