From its perch on a hill above the city, Alcazaba citadel is a major Malaga landmark and a testimony to Andalusia’s Moorish past. It's a delightful place with its patios and gardens with flowers and fountains and stunning views over Malaga. Just below are the ruins of a Roman amphitheatre. Construction of Alcazaba began in the 8th century when the Moors first arrived in the Iberian Peninsula though much of the extant walls date from the 11th century.
