Avinguda Rius i Taulet, 08004 Barcelona, Spain
A definite visit if you are in Barcelona should be to the Magic Fountain, a brilliant combination of light and colour, music and movement, the exhibition is held on Montjuïc, a hillside east of the city. The Magic Fountain held its first display in 1929 during the Great Universal Exhibition designed by Carles Buigas and consists of a series of cascades and fountains between the Palau National on the hillside and the Plaça d'Espanya at the foot of the hill. Hundreds of people turn up nightly to watch the display and it's a great place to visit during the summer evenings. The show runs every thirty minutes throughout the evening. Sunset is a good time to arrive to see the fountain in all its glory. Winter performance times are October to April on Fridays and Saturdays with the music sessions between 19:00 to 21.00. May to September the shows are on Friday, Saturday and Sunday between the times of 21:30 and 23:30. In January and February the fountain may not be in operation due to maintenance. Entrance to the Magic Fountain is free.
