Schloss Nymphenburg is a Baroque palace that was once the summer residence of the rulers of Bavaria. It was begun in 1664 as a villa for Electress Adelaide of Savoy and expanded upon over the following century. The present palace comprises a main building with several wings and the Botanical Garden housing over 15000 different plants, along with lakes, canals, and waterfalls.The palace is sumptuously decorated and features an array of artworks. The south wing contains the coaches and riding gear of the royal families in the Marstallmuseum (Royal Stables Museum).
