Puerto José Banús, to give it its full name, is one of the Mediterranean’s most opulent and exclusive marinas. Located just west of Marbella, Puerto Banus Marina was opened with great fanfare in 1970 in a lavish ceremony attended by a host of celebrities including Roman Polanski and Princess Grace of Monaco. Known as 'The Port' by locals, the marina has berths for 915 boats and ships from 8 to 50 meters and is flanked by beaches. Behind the harbour lie streets filled with bars, boutiques and nightclubs including brand name shops and some of Marbella's best restaurants.
