At the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh you will find over 70 acres of magnificently landscaped grounds, the ideal place to escape the nearby city. Established in 1670, the Gardens have one of the world's biggest living collections of plants. Some special areas not to be missed include the wild-origin Chinese plants and the beautiful Rock Garden which houses over 5,000 alpine plants. In the centre of the Garden is the Victorian Temperate Palm House, and the entrance to ‘Windows on the World', where it is possible to explore ten diverse climatic zones in the glasshouses. Daily guided walks and theme tours are led by experienced guides. The gardens are open at 10am every day, closing times depend on the season.
