Seville Cathedral

Av de la Constitución, 41001, Seville, Spain

Seville Cathedral needs several breaths to describe it. It is the world’s largest Roman Catholic cathedral, the largest Gothic building in the world, the third-largest church in Europe, has the largest and richest altarpiece in the Christian world, and the longest nave in Spain. If that's not enough, it also claims to house the remains of Columbus and is the repository of works of art from Goya, Murillo and Zurbaran. Seville Cathedral was built during the 15th and 16th centuries to demonstrate Seville's wealth, as it had become a major trading centre in the years after the Reconquista. It was built on the site of the Almohad Mosque.
