The Burrell Collection

2060 Pollokshaws Rd, Glasgow, Lanarkshire, G43 United Kingdom

The Burrell Collection comprises art given to the city by Sir William Burrell in 1944 under the condition that it be housed 16 miles from the city centre. It wasn't until the donation of the Pollok Country Park in south Glasgow in 1967 that a suitable home was found. The Queen opened the new facility in 1983. The Burrell Collection contains and impressive range of artworks including medieval artefacts, Chinese ceramics, paintings by Degas, Renoir and Cezanne and modern sculptures.
