From its perch in the county of Berkshire, the ramparts of Windsor Castle dominate the skyline for miles around. Windsor Castle is one of the queen's three official residences and has housed royals for over 900 years of tumultuous history. And today it remains the largest occupied castle in the world. Sections open to visitors include the State Apartments and for part of the year the Semi State rooms. The interiors are spectacular with exhibits from the Royal Collection such as art by Holbein, Rubens, and Van Dyck which was originally chosen by King George IV.
