Shepparton Guide: Spend Less, Do More

Welcome to Shepparton

Looking for great food, a choice selection of wine, scenic waterways and beautiful weather? Shepparton has all of these things, as well as a number of cultural and sporting activities.

Top sights

The area is known for containing some of the oldest and finest wineries in the country. The Goulburn Valley and Strathbogie Ranges offer an ideal growing climate for a wide range of wines, from deep reds to light whites.

Food is another attraction for visitors, as Shepparton offers world-renowned dairy produce and fruit. Some of the largest good processing plants in the world are found right here.

Water sports in the nearby waterway are also a strong attraction for visitors to this part of Australia, with plenty of family friendly activities to enjoy.

Dining

Food and wine are a hallmark of Shepparton. Some of the world's largest food processing plants are located here, as well as renowned wineries. Visitors can create their own picnic using the region's fresh fruit and dairy products, or try out one of the many cafes and restaurants in the area. The wineries in the region play a big part in the food culture, participating in local festivals where their quality is put to the test.

Events

Shepparton has become a prime destination for events year round. Of course, this includes wine and food festivals. The year starts with International Dairy Week each January, and then it continues with Mooroopna Fruit Salad Day in February. The Taste of Tatura and Shepparton Festival come to town in March to continue the food celebration. Sports are also important in the region. World Cup Show Jumping and the Half Ironman Triathlon are regular events. Each November, Shepparton sees the Spring Car Nationals return to the area.
