You won’t have to spend a Euro to do these!

A walking tour is a great way to explore this fashionable district. Wander down the wide tree lined Boulevard Richard-Lenoir and visit the quaint market you will find there Marche Bastille. Make sure you visit the Place de la Bastille square which is a great place to start your exploration into the history of the French Revolution while visiting some of the most famous jails in history. And if you feel inclined to pay your respects to some of the gravesites of the greatest artists, authors and musicians in history such as Oscar Wilde, Moliere and James Morrison you can do so at the Père-Lachaise Cemetery.

Spend a bit more to make the most of your stay

11th-Arr-Pere-Lachaise-Cemetery-walk-wayOne popular option for families is this guided three hour walking tour which will provide you with the opportunity to see the best this neighbourhood has to offer from the Napoleon built Canal St Martin, to a shared garden and shops before you stop for traditional pastries at one of the many cafes.

For something a little more sophisticated and relaxing, stop for a glass of wine with bread and cheese at Jacques Melac’s wine bar and bistro for an authentic experience. Or head to the smoking museum which of course, features all things related to smoking. For an inexpensive but largely portioned tapas restaurant with a great reputation try Les Petits Celeste where the portions are large and satisfying.

Or for some even more adult style entertainment, try the wild Parisian nightlife on Oberkampf Street. The history of 11th arrondissement is notably juxtaposed by the sheer volume of trendy bars you will find here and with a choice of about 35 rock bars you won’t have to walk far to find something to entice your fun side.

Do something you’ll remember forever…

If you happen to be in town at just the right time, the Cirque D’Hiver (Winter Circus) is one of the most memorable places to stop by. The oldest circus in the world, check the website of this spectacular classical circus to reserve your tickets in advance.

Or if you looking for one of the best restaurants this neighbourhood has to offer, there is arguably no better place to try then Le Chateaubriand. Consistently included in lists of the world’s best restaurants this pricey but atmospheric traditional French bistro is sure to leave you feeling satisfied long after you leave. Be sure to book ahead as the popularity of this famous restaurant means you will likely need to book weeks ahead.
