The Pantheon Guide: Spend Less, Do More

Welcome to The Pantheon

5, Rue Lhomond, 75005 Paris, France

The Pantheon is situated in Paris , France and is one of the citys main attractions.

The Latin Quarter is crowned by the great dome of the Pantheon, the final resting place for Paris's greats such as Voltaire, Victor Hugo and Marie Curie.

It was built by Louis XV for Sainte Genevieve in gratitude for her curing him of an illness. Its opening in 1789 coincided with the start of the French Revolution. It then assumed its role as a mausoleum with words Aux grands hommes la patrie reconnaissante; (The nation honours its great men) etched on its portico. Other than the tombs, the Pantheon also contains a working model of Foucaults Pendulum swinging from the dome in the nave.
