Welcome to San Lorenzo

San Lorenzo is a vibrant neighbourhood known for its youthful student residents and cool, laid back vibe. Here you will find numerous thrift shops to explore, affordable bars and restaurants and the unique wall art that line the streets. And of course you will likely want to visit the most famous landmark, after which the area was named, the Basilica of San Lorenzo, but consider that as only the start of your visit as there is so much more to see and do in this eclectic quarter.

Start by exploring the streets…

Part of the charm of San Lorenzo is the range of colourful graffiti art and murals that can be found throughout the district. Largely painted by the talented students of the University La Sapienza, here you will find unconventional and interesting modern pieces that have been increasingly appearing since the 2010 Graffiti Convention and 2012 Urban Contest. They give a unique feel to the district and well worth a look to appreciate the talent of some of the local students in this emerging scene.

It’s party time!

From underground bars to buzzing discos, you will be spoiled for choice in San Lorenzo. With its cabaret and burlesque shows, Micca Club is a great place to start for live entertainment and music. But if you prefer just to an evening drink rather than a wild night, and have already had your fill of pizza and pasta while you holiday in Rome, then head to the city’s only Jamaican inspired venue, Jamrock where you can enjoy good Creole style food at a reasonable price.
